Singapore Maritime Gallery: Welcome aboard!

Wednesday, 10 July 2013

Caden loves ships. Big boats, sailboats, oil tankers and aircraft carriers... they enthral him. Then again, like most boys, he's fascinated with all manner of transportation, and counts his many die-cast models as his prized possessions.

DaddyMoo decided to bring us to the Singapore Maritime Gallery last weekend, and I found it to be quite a gem of a place! Despite the many child friendly features, we had the whole place to ourselves. Perhaps the inaccessibility of the place have deterred families from visiting, as it is tucked away in a pretty remote corner of Marina South.

Here is a glimpse of what's in store. The kid had so much fun pretending he's a pirate!

The gallery also organises school and group visits, and a booking online can be done to ensure a comprehensive experience for everyone. There is a kid's activity room too, with interactive fun in place.

On the third floor, there is a small playground. Caden wasn't too interested playing there, though - most probably because it was an extremely sunny day and the structure was almost burning hot.

He would rather watch the ships - some of which were berthed, and those which dotted the horizon. Mummy just had visions of Scarlett O Hara in Gone With The Wind (don't ask why).

  1. You are right. The location of the place is a little turning off, especially when one doesn't know what to expect! But now that I've seen pictures, I'm all for going!

There's even restaurant and cafe! Haha! Next family trip!
